❥ Canon: Final Fantasy XV
❥ Canon Point: Early in the Long Night, shortly after the evacuation of Insomnia by Iris and Cor.
❥ Fandom OC Approval: N/A
❥ History: Wiki~
❥ CRAU?: N/A
❥ Personality:
- Leadership-Not only does Cor's reputation precede him he is also a very confident man, able to keep his head in even the worst of situations and as such people are quick to respect his decisions. Since the Fall he has been steadily turning more of his attentions to training the younger members of the Guard as well as the Hunters that are assisting them. He is self-aware enough to understand that he is past his prime and is of best use guiding efforts and passing his experience on. At the same time this role puts a great deal of pressure on him, every loss is a personal failure, every victory a credit to those that work along side him.
- Discipline-Cor completed his Crownsguard training at a very young age (13) and a large reason for that was not just his skill but his discipline. Confident and controlled even at that young age those skills have helped him develop into the man he has become. In his youth he may have had a bit too much confidence, bordering on being cocky, but as he's aged that has mellowed. The fact that he was so quickly check something that could have been a liability, at only 15, is a testament to his self control.
- Stoic-Just as that cockiness of his youth has faded so too has much of his expressions in general. As the Marshal it would be far to damning if he were so similar to his youth, feelings displayed without thought to the consequences they might have. He does his best to remain calm and restrained at all times, a perfect poker face every moment. It's a type of defense, armor against those around him as well as foes of the Crown. Unfortunately this does mean that he keeps almost everyone at a distance, refusing to let anyone too near lest they attempt to use his position against Lucis.
- Loyalty-Cor is possibly the most stubbornly loyal man in a country of stubborn loyalty. Even ten years after Regis' death when Noctis, the True King, the Chosen One according to the prophecy, finally returns to usher in the Dawn Cor still addresses him as "your Highness" the title belonging to the Prince. Aside from one instance in front of the remaining Glaives when he must for propriety's sake he doesn't even acknowledge Noctis as King because to Cor there is only one King, his friend and brother. Noctis may be King but he is not Cor's King and so he never addresses him as such. Not out of lack of respect but because his devotion to Regis is too great. He loves Noctis like a son but calling anyone other than Regis "your Majesty" is just wrong.
The world as they know it utterly crumbles and Cor fights tooth and nail for over ten years to guide the remnants of their country to be an example and to protect their lives and livelihood with all he has because it was the last request tasked to him before Regis was slain. - Anger-It is very very carefully controlled now but it is stated in his youth that Cor had quite the temper, even going so far as to yell at Regis, calling him a coward for obeying the order to withdraw from Accordo when Mors chose to pull back the Wall. There's implications that Cor was, at the very least, a commoner and evidence that he was an orphan or even street urchin before the Crownsguard took him in. It's because of this that he has so little tolerance for the spoiled nature of royal life in general and so few qualms with calling both Regis and later Noctis out on their behavior. Though the anger is far more neatly directed into his swordplay he does still have a bit of a temper and can be prone to snapping or being impatient when he is upset.
- Practical-Regardless of what his feelings are on any given matter he will always go with the most practical approach, sometimes to his own detriment. He's no where near as obviously self sacrificing as Noctis' retainers or any Shield that's ever existed but he is too pragmatic for his own good. Usually finding the simplest and quickest solution to all problems even if they involve madness like not taking a day off for 6 months. His work ethic is somewhat ridiculous.
- The Immortal- One thing that Cor's accumulated skills results in is his ability to turn off the parts of himself that make him really human. The Immortal is a moniker he received after being the only person to face the Blademaster and come out alive. The experience changed thim greatly, much of the tempering of his anger and attitude took place at that time. In his mind there is a distinct divide between the man, Cor, and the soldier, The Immortal. It is a defense mechanism against the horrors he's seen in a life filled with war as well as the hard decisions he's had to make. It is also a reminder of all of those that have fallen before him, including two Kings, and as such he hates the title others use as a show of honor.
❥ Abilities:
- Master Swordsman- Cor is something of a prodigy with a blade, both the youngest member the Crownsguard has ever produced and also one of the most skilled. His cool demeanor allows him to pick up on opponent's tells and weaknesses easily while giving away none of his own.
- Marshal-Cor has been the leader of the Crownsguard for quite some time prior to the beginning of the game, tasked with patrols and protection of the Crown City. He is very good at strategy and has spent the time since Insomnia's fall orchestrating movements between the remained of the Crownsguard, Kingsglaive, and Hunters.
- Magic-It has been a few years since he had it at hand but Cor has spent more of his life with access to Regis' magic than without. He also has access to the Armiger as well, though he'll be surprised at what's in there now given Regis' age. When he has his King he has access to that magic while he does not without him. Fire, Thunder, Blizzard, Invisible, Protect are spells that are explicitly shown used either by Noctis or in Kingsglaive. As shown in Episode Gladio Cor has an additional skill that seems to function similarly to previous incarnations of Saber which is also the primary fighting style he uses. As he is not a playable character the exact stats of the spell are hard to pin point but his battle style focuses on precision strikes. This ability is still able to be activated without Regis.
