[Regis begins to tell Cor he doesn't have to go to so much effort for his knee, but in the end just stays silent on the topic. Cor, even more then he himself, knows how bad that knee can be. Objection is already a lost battle.]
I'm relieved to hear that, but this actually has nothing to do with this morning. It's a completely different Peter-related topic.
[He almost has to laugh at that, it sounds so serious and it is perhaps because Cor is so apt at taking things too serious that Regis doesn't wait to continue. Instead, he leans forward to brush his hand along Cor's jaw.]
My beloved lion, he has requested permission to court me. I would like your thoughts on it. You know how important they are to me. None are more so here.
[At least Regis is smart enough to recognize his defeat. He draws a gentle chill to his hand, resting it over his King's knee to ease the ache of the arthritis. Especially without his brace it must be much worse now.
The touch he earns in return pulls a soft, pleased rumble from him. Leaning into Regis' hand gives him the chance to hide his smirk against the other man's palm, blue eyes bright with amusement even with his face half covered.]
[Regis closes his eyes for a moment, relishing how the cold and the lingering effects of the flower make almost all the pain vanish for a few moments. When he feels the smirk against his hand, though, he opens his eyes again, expression filled with amusement.]
Can you blame him? I do have an extremely fierce, loyal, and devoted guard lion. Any man with a mote of common sense would hesitate in the face of that.
[For a long moment, Regis just watches Cor, eyebrow raised, eyes twinkling. It's almost as if he is expecting something to happen. When it doesn't, he finally lefts himself laugh.]
Astrals, it has been quite some time since I heard such sass from you. I was just waiting for your age to shift again.
[But since it hasn't, that does mean they can continue their conversation.]
His lion and my lion are two very different beings. I suspect he rightly fears mine more.

[Six, between Will and Regis he's getting to be as sassy as he was in his youth.]
